About the Author
Yvonne Yazbeck Haddad is Professor of History of Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations, Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University. She is the author or editor for over fifteen books including Muslim Minorities in the West: Visible and Invisible (2002); Daughters of Abraham: Feminist Thought in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam (2001); and Muslims on the Americanization Path? (2000).

Always check your references

While I found this book to be excellent in it's flow and presentation, I was extremely unhappy when I noticed that the first reference used was by Daniel Pipes (citing one of his 'statistics' of all things). Daniel Pipes is hardly a credible reference; despite his credentials. His 'journal', the Middle East Quarterly, is full of articles that are poorly referenced.
Even if citing Daniel Pipes is just an attempt to point out that the man is crazy and should be ignored, my advice is not to plague an otherwise wonderfully written work with such a person. It's time that we shut out hate-mongers and conspiracy starters like Pipes.
