“Can the West be converted?” That question gripped longtime missionary Lesslie Newbigin when he moved back to his British homeland and saw its post-Christian condition. Likewise, renowned author C. This volume retrieves the cultural diagnosis and missionary prescription in the works of C. S. Lewis and Lesslie Newbigin. The charm of this volume resides in their juxtaposition. Even those already familiar with Lewis and Newbigin will likely find themselves (as I did!) surprised by new pieces. The author's distillation at the end of the volume not only provides a nice summary of the findings, but does so in a way that suggests further grappling. This is a creative and original work. There are lots of good studies of Lewis, but none to my knowledge look at him through missiological lenses as a missionary apologist to the West. Similarly, I am not aware of any study that gives proper attention to the place of apologetics in Newbigin's missiological engagement with the West. David Feddes does this in a masterful way.
